First off, I am not the kind of person that would actually play an action type game, but strangely out of some reason I was hooked on Tyrian2000!
The game play is simple, fly a ship and blast those things that are trying to kill you. Sounds typical right? And did I forget to mention there was a storyline that I never realy knew what it was about?
All seems like it would be those endless arcade action games that would bore you after the next few minutes, but that was not true for Tyrian.

The game makers made it possible that we "purchased" add-ons with the credits that we earned from blasting those baddies and thus it added for me to build the best ship there was and thus I was nailed to the monitor.
However, I soon came to notice that the most expensive weapon may not be the best option at all!!. It would all amount up to personal preference and as I prefered to have MAX power on the front, I ended up using that same weapon throughout the whole game! I did not even change my side companions at all...

The need to get a better ship is so strong that it converted a RPG / Strategy game fan like myself into a numble headed shoot'em all mouse clicker...
You may also like to search for a game called Raptor if you liked Tyrian 2000. But its still being sold so you got to buy it.

Recommendations
Highly recommended! The graphics and sounds are not bad as well.
